My Personal and Professional Values

When I trained as a life coach, we were encouraged to narrow our values down to just three, with the reminder that our values are not fixed points. They shift, stretch, and evolve as we do.

Revisiting mine today has been grounding and surprisingly emotional. It’s given me the chance to reconnect with what genuinely guides me — both in my work and in my life.

Below are the values that now sit at the heart of who I am, and why they matter so deeply to me.

Presence

Presence has become the foundation of everything I do.
I’ve realised that true connection — whether with others, myself, or the world — only happens when I am fully here.
Present. Grounded. Listening. Open.

Presence allows me to support people deeply and authentically, and it reminds me daily to slow down and truly be with the life unfolding in front of me.

Presence is absolutely vital to me to be the best mum I can be to my baby daughter.

Integrity

Integrity has always been a non-negotiable for me.
It’s about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and even when it isn’t the easiest path.
It’s the value that keeps me aligned with my truth, my ethics, and my intentions — the quiet inner compass that guides my decisions.

Compassion

Compassion is at the centre of my relationships, my work, and the way I try to show up in the world.
It’s the practice of meeting people exactly where they are, without judgement.
It’s softness, understanding, empathy, and care — qualities I strive to offer others and remember to offer myself too.

Inclusion

Inclusion has been a longstanding passion of mine.
My years working as a Special Needs Coordinator and Mental Health Lead strengthened my belief that everyone deserves to feel genuinely welcomed, valued, and seen.

I’m committed to creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves — where difference is celebrated and every voice matters.

Play

Play might seem like an unexpected value, but to me it’s absolutely essential to live a good life.
As a former early years teacher and now a mummy, I see every day how play inspires joy, learning, exploration, and connection.

Play keeps us curious.
It helps us laugh.
It reminds us that life doesn’t have to be so serious all the time.

It’s a value that fills my home, my work, and my heart with lightness and creativity.

Values That Have Shifted: Freedom & Connection

For a long time, Freedom and Connection were two of my strongest values.

Connection is still deeply important — but I’ve realised that connection depends on presence. When I’m truly present, connection naturally follows. It doesn’t need to be its own category anymore; it’s woven through everything.

Freedom was a value that emerged after a period in my life where I felt incredibly trapped.
Experiencing liberation from that chapter was powerful, and freedom became something I held tightly.
But now, with distance and healing, I no longer need it in the same way.
The value remains meaningful — especially for others — but it no longer defines me at my core.

What About You?

This reflection has reminded me how important it is to revisit our values from time to time. They evolve with us. They tell us what we need, what matters, and where we’re heading.

So now I’d love to know:

What are your values?
How do they help you live the life you truly want?

Feel free to share in the comments or message me — I love these conversations, and I’d be honoured to hear yours.
